Memorial Day

For Memorial Day, we went up to my in-laws cottage. Jeff was expecting a nice weekend of fishing, and I was expecting a very happy daughter since she's been talking about going back to the cottage for months now. Well, neither Jeff nor I got what we were expecting. (Isn't it that way with most things?) About half way there, Faith started hacking. The kind of coughing that makes you double over and wince. This continued all Sunday, Sunday night, and into Monday. She had two night terrors Sunday night. Half way through the night, Jeff and I thought about just packing up and driving home. However, we did stick it out, and Faith started to feel better about the time we had to leave. About the time Faith was feeling better, the fishing got worse. Faith really wanted Daddy to catch her a fish "on the pole", but it was just too windy.

Despite it all, we did have fun. Here's Faith with her first sparkler. It's hard to see against her pink sweatshirt, but it's there. You can kind of tell she doesn't feel very well.

Here she is having a snack with her two cousins and Grandma. Notice Faith staring very intently at the dog. She loves that dog - from a distance. It gets too close and she panics.

Here's Faith eatting her cupcake. Notice the blonde fur right by her. A minute after this picture was taken, she noticed he was there and started to cry. On the way home, she told me that the dog was trying to take her cupcake. At the time he wasn't, but it was a valid concern on her part.
