Catching Up

Faith's first day of pre-school

Life's been a whirl-wind ever since school got started! I'm not sure what I my excuse was over the summer... Anyways, the school year is now underway and I'm getting to know my students. We have 62 eighth graders this year. Once again, I'm teaching LA, Bible, and Pre-Algebra. I'm also doing the play for the second year. This year it's Knights of the Rad Table. I made a rookie teacher mistake yesterday and told the kids they could start bringing in props. I neglected to mention that they should be put in my closet the minute they get to school. I entered the 8th grade hall this morning to a sword fight and kids riding broomstick ponies.

I am also continuing to take grad classes through Indiana Wesleyan. This keeps me pretty busy after Faith and Jeff go to bed, but I'm learning a lot about teaching and myself.

Our most exciting news right now is that we're expecting baby #2 in mid-March! Faith is very excited. She has to say "Hey, Baby" every day when I come home and pat my tummy. She's also making a list of possible baby names. This is based on a book that she read from the library. Her current top choices are Juan Claude, Pierre, or Goliath. We keep talking about the baby as a boy because she insists that it's a girl. Her reasoning: Mommy's a girl. Girls come from girl's tummies. Boys come from boy's tummies.

Here are a few pictures from this summer:
